To celebrate this special day, there will be a lot of fireworks events around the city. Alternatively, people can join in their own fireworks, embracing the vibrant energy of the day.

When you plan to have your own fireworks, it's crucial to prioritize safety. Following all the safety guidelines is essential to prevent accidents and injuries. Here are important firework safety tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration:

• Learn about the municipal guideline: In general, you don't need to gain a permit to light firecrackers on your property on Canada Day. However, there are some cities such as Calgary and Edmonton that may have specific regulations where permits are required. Therefore, it is highly recommended to verify with your local government first before you make a purchase. Engaging in fireworks activity without a proper permit may result in charges by law enforcement.

• Purchase from reliable sources: Always buy fireworks only from licensed and reliable vendors. Check if the fireworks you are about to purchase are legal, fully tested, and approved for consumer use. Illegally made fireworks can bring dangerous, unpredictable accidents.

• Keep a safe distance: Maintain a safe distance from fireworks both during the lighting process and after they have been ignited. Follow the recommended safety radius specified for each firework.
